Luminos 15mm Eyepiece - 1.25"
-
Detail
The Luminos series eyepieces offer a wide 82º field of view in both high power and low power models, allowing you to make the most of your telescope, whether you own a short, fast refractor or a Celestron EdgeHD telescope. The optical set consists of six or seven elements (depending on the model) and is fully multi-coated for crisp, sharp views. All six Luminos eyepieces are parfocal, which means you can switch out eyepieces during observing sessions with little or no additional focusing required.
The Luminos eyepiece body is made of polished and anodized aluminum. A rubber grip runs around the equator of the eyepiece, giving you a secure grip and an easy method for raising and lowering the retractable eyecup. Simply twist the rubber grip to adjust the height of the eyecup. The insert barrel is threaded to accept filters.

I was really impressed with the quality of the lens and the 82' field of vision. On the first outing I managed to observe 60 Messier objects without problems on a 6” Newtonian. Highly recommended.

For the money, I can't imagine there's anything better. I almost exclusively use this eyepiece now. A nice 'medium' amount of power, but a huge wide field. Powerful enough to make planets nice to look at, and so wide a field of view that stay in view for a long time, and low enough power that lots of deep sky objects are visible. This would be a massive improvement to anyone's viewing experience if you only have the eyepiece(s) that were packaged with your telescope, as it was for me.

I recently purchased a Luminos 7mm to add with my 31mm. These eyepieces are fantastic for their clarity, details and build quality. There is noticeable edge brightness, but I’m mostly a planetary observer, so at F6, it’s tolerable; it’s optimized for F6 and higher, but even under F6, it may not bother some people. The twist-up eyeguard is a nice feature, and offers enough eye relief for me. For the price, you are getting a lot, and the performance at this level enters “premium” territory.

I been wanting this eyepiece for awhile and I am glad I got it. This eyepiece is amazing you can see the planets clearly. On my photo there is a little bit of fuzzing glare on the edges but that's cause of the camera but looking straight through it you don't see it with the naked eye. If your thinking about getting this eyepiece just do it you won't be disappointed. The telescope I'm using is the celestron nexstar 4se. Keep looking at the stars!
